Functional Skills Outreach Tutor - English & Maths (Entry Level 3 to Level 2) in Barking and Dagenham.

About the Opportunity

Prospero Teaching is currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Outreach Tutors to deliver 1:1 Functional Skills English and Maths sessions (Entry Level 3 to Level 2) to young learners who are unable to access mainstream education in Barking and Dagenham.

This role is particularly suited to tutors or teachers with experience supporting SEN students, or those who may be struggling with the demands of GCSE-level study.

As an Outreach Tutor, you will play a crucial role in helping students build their core literacy and numeracy skills, regain confidence, and prepare for future learning or qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver bespoke Functional Skills Maths and English tuition from Entry Level 3 to Level 2
Provide structured, confidence-boosting lessons in line with learners' EHCPs or individual learning plans
Identify gaps in learning and adapt teaching methods to suit each student's needs and progress
Build positive, professional relationships with students and their families/carers
Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to Prospero Teaching and relevant stakeholdersContract/Position Details

Location: Barking and Dagenham
Where: Home-based, school settings, or agreed public locations
Position: Functional Skills Tutor (Outreach)

Duration: Dependent on student needs and tuition plan
Hours: Sessions typically range between 1-3 hours per day; flexible scheduling available
Pay: Minimum £25 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Full-Time/Part-Time: Both available - tailored to your availabilityExperience, Training and Qualifications

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, PGCE, or other recognised teaching qualifications
Minimum 6 months experience teaching or tutoring in UK education settings
Proven experience delivering Functional Skills or alternative curriculum to SEN or disengaged learners
Experience supporting students with EHCPs, SEMH needs, autism, ADHD, or other learning difficulties
Up-to-date Safeguarding trainingTo Be Eligible for This Role Through Prospero Teaching, You Must:

Have the Right to Work UK
Hold an enhanced DBS certificate (child workforce) registered with the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new one
