Office based in Shrewsbury (may be some flexibility)

Our Local Authority Client are recruiting an Approved Mental Health Professisonal (AMHP) on a temporary basis to cover the AMHP duty desk.

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive and triage referrals for Mental Health Act (MHA) assessments, ensuring appropriate and timely responses.
• Support and participate in S.13 visits alongside other professionals, conducting assessments as required.
• Provide supervision, guidance, and practical support to AMHP candidates during their placements, contributing to their professional development.
• Assist the Mental Health hospital discharge team with Mental Capacity Assessments (MCAs) and Section 117 aftercare planning meetings as necessary.
• Provide regular cover and support to the Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) duty desk during business hours, with occasional work extending beyond standard hours if assessments require.

Requirements:

• Qualified AMHP with valid approval to practice.
• Social Work qualification and Social Work England registration.
• Experience in triaging and coordinating Mental Health Act assessments.
• 3 year post qualified experience.
