Action for Children run the local service Bucks Activity Project, providing county-wide play and leisure activities for children and young people with disabilities and learning needs, aged 0-19.
We build positive relationships with families and work with professionals to ensure we support each child to acquire the best outcomes. Our services take place in different parts of Buckinghamshire to ensure we meet the needs of all the children and young people, so you may be working in a venue based activity one week and a community based activity the next!
You will work as part of team working with children and young people aged 0-19 years old with additional learning needs & disabilities. You''ll be promoting their independence and wellbeing as they participate in play and leisure activities. We run venue- based sessions for the younger children aged 0-8 and older children can take part in swimming, cinema trips, Go Ape, bowling, and farm visits to name a few. Weekend shifts are 8.45am – 5.15pm and you can work Saturday and/or Sunday. The choice is yours. All we ask is that you are willing and able to get fully immersed with the activities and with the children and young people and be prepared to join in the fun!
Our sessions and activities run on alternate weekends in the north and south of the county. E.g. week 1 we would be in Wycombe area and week 2 we would be in the Aylesbury area. You will be expected to travel between both and occasionally we run activities in other areas of the county such as Buckingham, Milton Keynes, Maidenhead, Amersham depending on service needs. We pay a fair proportion of mileage for all work-related travel.
