Context and purpose of role:

The Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing sound legal guidance to stakeholders ensuring mitigation of legal risks associated with corporate and commercial matters.

Principal Job Elements Responsibilities:

* Commercial — provide sound and commercially aware legal advice to workers ensuring legal risks associated with 'doing business' are anticipated and mitigated. The successful incumbent will leverage their legal knowledge and practical experience to provide advice which protects the company and will also enable business transitions. This will include, but is not limited to; commercial contract reviews, assisting in commercial negotiations, advising or educating workers on best practice, assisting in negotiating strategy development for large commercial deals and acting as an advocate for us as required.

* Corporate — in conjunction with the broader legal team work on corporate matters including the acquisition of businesses predominantly within the technology sector.

* Operations — in conjunction with the broader legal team, shape and define the legal processes within the company to enable an efficient, accurate and timely legal service within the Group. This will cover processes, templates and training and education and reporting (among other things) that will act as enablers and define strong working relationships throughout the customer groups within the company.

* Data Protection — anticipate, plan and act upon the various data protection regulations impacting our commercial activities. This will include providing advice, establishing frameworks and processes, setting policy and ensuring compliance across the Group.

Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate effective communication, both orally and in writing, with colleagues and customers including providing case updates, producing reports and escalating issues internally.

* Problem Solving and Decision Making - Gathers, verifies and assesses all appropriate and available information to gain an accurate understanding of situations at pace. Considers a range of possible options, evaluating evidence and seeking advice where appropriate. Makes clear, timely, justifiable decisions, reviewing these as necessary.

* Building Relationships - Able to develop effective relationships with colleagues and customers. Able to respond appropriately to feedback.

* Innovation, Flexibility and Adaptability - Undertake tasks with a positive attitude and respond well to management and customer requests. Must be prepared to meet business goals and respond well to change.

Skills, Knowledge Qualifications:

* Either qualified Solicitor or Barrister

* Demonstrable experience practicing commercial law is essential

* Experience of corporate law is desirable

* Highly desirable but not essential - Fluency (written and verbal) in either German or Nordic languages

* Experience of the technology sector highly desirable

* Sound MS Office skills

* Highly organised
