We’re recruiting an Accounts Manager in Edinburgh on behalf of a well-established and growing accountancy practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to take ownership of a varied client portfolio, lead and develop a team, and play a key role in delivering high-quality compliance and advisory services within a collaborative firm.
The Role
As Accounts Manager, you will be responsible for the timely and profitable delivery of work across your own portfolio of clients. Your portfolio will include a mix of year-end accounts, management accounts, corporate and personal tax returns, VAT returns, and budgeting and forecasting assignments.
You will review work prepared by assistants and seniors, providing constructive feedback, technical guidance, and ongoing coaching to support their professional development and ensure quality standards are met.
You’ll build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a key point of contact and trusted adviser. Working closely with Client Relationship Managers and internal Specialists, you’ll coordinate advisory input where required and identify cross-selling opportunities across the wider business.
You will also manage portfolio administration responsibilities, including client onboarding, fee preparation, and WIP and debt management, ensuring work is delivered efficiently and within agreed timescales.
About You
You will be ICAS or ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with relevant experience in a UK accountancy practice environment, ideally in a supervisory or managerial role.
You’ll be confident reviewing accounts and tax work, managing deadlines, and overseeing a varied client portfolio. Strong IT skills are essential, along with experience using accounts and tax software packages and a good working knowledge of clients’ accounting systems.
