Regulatory Lawyer - The Role:

As a Regulatory Lawyer you will play a key role in ensuring our business complies with all relevant laws and regulations. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to navigate complex regulatory landscapes and provide expert legal advice. An ability to adapt to different disciplines would be helpful, and experience as a legal business partner with a mix of private practise and in-house experience.

Regulatory Lawyer - Key Responsibilities:

- Stay abreast of the latest developments in financial regulations, especially in the payments sector

- Ensure the company's compliance with FCA regulations and other relevant European laws and standards

- Develop, implement, and update company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Provide training and guidance to employees on compliance matters

- Review and negotiate contracts with clients, partners, and vendors, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and mitigating legal risks

- Advise on the legal implications of contractual arrangements including any partnerships or collaborations

- Conduct legal risk assessments related to new products, services, and business initiatives. Provide strategic advice on regulatory implications and potential risks

- Prepare and submit regulatory reports and filings as required by the FCA and other regulatory bodies. Ensure accuracy and timeliness in all submissions

- Assist in obtaining any new licenses and registrations that the business deems relevant

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including compliance, finance, and operations, to address regulatory challenges and provide legal guidance on compliance matters

- Engage with regulatory authorities and industry groups to represent the company's interests and advocate for favourable regulatory policies

- Collaborate with leadership to effectively communicate company-wide legal policies across the business

- Support the team of in-house legal professionals, working alongside the Chief Legal Officer to foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment

- Provide guidance, and mentorship to legal team colleagues as required

- Support the Chief Legal Officer in conducting regular performance reviews, goal setting and identify training needs to enhance the skills and elevate the capabilities of the wider legal team

Regulatory Lawyer - You:

- Experience as Regulatory Lawyer in FCA environment - as well as ability to advise on European regulations and Directives that impact the business

- Understanding of AML, financial crime, EMI and Payments regulations would be very helpful

- Good commercial acumen, industry experience  - e.g.,  in-house secondment, or time in

- First line regulatory compliance area experience
