Job Summary:

Students can begin work at any point before or during week of Oct. 7. You will read/view and discuss introductory materials about universal design and disability justice, help to organize teams, and participate in a 1 to 1.5-hour Mapping Expedition (times are flexible) with students and faculty from SUNY-ESF and SU, which will be led by a person who is most affected by disabling physical or other barriers. You will document (through photography, drawing, narrative, etc.) their encounters with the campus environment, learning how someone with a wheelchair, or who is older and has mobility issues, or a person with intellectual disability finds their way to event or classroom space in Weiskotten Hall, the Addition, or Academic Building. Afterward, you will share your documentation with the larger group. Given time, you will participate in building a blog and beginning analysis of findings.

3-5 hours/week, flexible duration

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be a current student enrolled at Upstate Medical University and approved for financial aid through the Student Financial Aid office at Upstate.
