Import / Export Specialist

£35,000 - £40,000 per annum

Location: Shepperton (TW17) and Office-based (with occasional WFH flexibility)Hours: Monday–Friday, 09:00–17:30 

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Import/Export Specialist to join my clients' growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone confident in managing shipments from end to end, with solid knowledge of UK customs processes and a proactive, detail-focused approach.

You’ll be responsible for coordinating international shipments, ensuring full compliance with customs regulations, and delivering excellent service to customers and partners. If you thrive in a fast-paced logistics environment and enjoy taking ownership of your workload, I'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage import and export shipments from start to finish, ensuring timely and accurate completion
• Liaise daily with carriers, customs authorities, suppliers, and clients
• Prepare and review all relevant shipping and customs documentation
• Ensure compliance with CDS and associated HMRC processes
• Coordinate with internal departments to guarantee smooth goods flow
• Monitor and track shipments, resolving any issues proactively
• Maintain accurate records within the company’s systems
• Deliver exceptional customer service and uphold compliance standards

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in an import/export or freight forwarding role
• Strong understanding of UK customs procedures, particularly CDS
• Proven ability to manage shipments independently from booking through to final delivery
• Multi-modal freight handling (air, ocean, road)
• Working knowledge of CargoWise
• Experience with Descartes / e-Customs systems
