Circet Ireland and UK DCS are looking for an experienced Data Centre Operations Manager to join our team

The Manager for Data Centre Operations is responsible for the strategic and tactical operation of the On-Premises Data Centre's and off-site Colo facilities, including but not limited to, capacity planning, load management, power availability, spatial allocation, environmental monitoring, workmanship, resilience, and coordination of planned preventive and remedial maintenance of the critical power & cooling systems in the company's mission-critical facilities and commercial office spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Senior Engineer for Data Centre Infrastructure to coordinate data centre activities and maintain standards of workmanship.
  • Plan, allocate and oversee installation of equipment and maintenance within the Data Centre environment.
  • Constantly review available power and cooling capacity ensuring rooms are kept within safe working limits and resilience including failover scenarios are maintained.
  • Review and advise on proposed equipment placing, power and cooling requirements.
  • Oversee periodic maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems. Demonstrating vendor management controls to ensure proper use of procedures.
  • Retain accurate records of all rack elevations including power, cooling, weight and cabling requirements.
  • Utilises in-house software applications to plan IT installations and advise on any anomalies
  • Identifies, responds, and troubleshoots on equipment failures and operational anomalies.
  • Ensure client satisfaction and provide optimal level of customer service for various departments.
  • Ensure adherence to all established guidelines, management practices and installation standards for any work with the Data Centre's.
  • Perform troubleshooting on Data Centre issues, identify and assist in timely resolution.
  • Maintain effective professional relationships with all department managers.
  • Coordinate with various departments and perform integration of critical systems into infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with IT, enhancement and business teams and develop strategies to ensure achievement of data centre capacity.
  • Maintain expert knowledge on all equipment and its use on systems for various critical systems including upgrades and alternative products.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering; or an equivalent combination of skills, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge related to full lifecycle project management applicable to the design, construction, and operation of technologically complex, high availability, 24 x 7, mission critical facilities (electrical, mechanical, inside plant (rack & structured cabling) and network infrastructures.
  • Ideal candidate will have practical and theoretical knowledge of electrical, mechanical and architectural design of data centers, telecommunication / computer / electronic equipment rooms, production and broadcast facilities, and commercial office buildings; electrical / mechanical systems - Uninterruptible Power Supplies

(UPS's), Battery Systems, Static Transfer Switches, Power Distribution Units (PDU's), Switchgear, Diesel Generators, Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) Units, Dry coolers, Chillers; and Construction Management.

  • Experience establishing and implementing effective business processes and standard operating procedures.
  • A high level of initiative, customer focus, and aptitude for learning.
  • Ability to travel when required.
  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Registered Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
