School Finance Consultant

Our mission is simple: to help schools harness technology and data to improve outcomes for every learner. We are seeking a confident and motivated School Finance Consultant to provide top-notch accountancy, business management, and audit services to schools and academy trusts.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Support day-to-day accounting processes including ordering, invoicing, bank reconciliations, journals, and VAT returns.
- Provide guidance on budget preparation, monitoring, and reporting.
- Assist with statutory financial returns and review internal control systems to recommend improvements.
- Support medium-term financial planning and help produce management accounts.
- Assist with year-end account closure and offer responsive support via phone and email to resolve financial and business queries.
- Deliver internal audit services to help clients strengthen their financial processes.
- Train and develop school-based staff in accounting practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Essential:
- AAT qualification or equivalent (or working towards it).
- Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping.
- Experience producing management accounts and in day-to-day accounts processing and reconciliations.
- Month-end and year-end experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- A commitment to personal development and continuous learning.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of the education sector.
- Experience using a variety of accounting systems.
- Experience reviewing internal controls and recommending improvements.
