Contract Senior Civil Engineer - Manchester
OUTSIDE IR35
I'm recruiting on behalf of a respected and independent civil and structural engineering consultancy based in Manchester. With a consistently strong workload and several live development-led infrastructure schemes, they're now looking for an experienced Contract Civil or Senior Civil Engineer to support their busy civils team on a flexible, outside IR35 basis.
This is a great opportunity to join a technically accomplished, collaborative team delivering a wide range of drainage and highways design work. The contract offers immediate project involvement, minimal onboarding time, and the autonomy to take ownership of your workload with the backing of a trusted leadership team.
The Role:
- Designing highways and drainage infrastructure for residential and commercial development schemes
- Leading or supporting technical approval processes including S104, S38, and S278
- Preparing detailed design drawings and calculations for planning, tender, and construction phases
- Working collaboratively with clients, architects, and other consultants to resolve design challenges
- Supporting and mentoring junior staff as required
- Delivering schemes from concept through to construction with minimal supervision
What You'll Need:
- Strong working knowledge of SUDs, MicroDrainage (or InfoDrainage), AutoCAD, and ideally Civil 3D
- A solid understanding of infrastructure planning and delivery processes
- Previous experience working on residential-led developments is preferred
- HNC/HND or degree in Civil Engineering or similar
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, delivery-focused mindset

- Flexible hybrid working (Manchester office-based when required)
