This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of genomics and therapeutics and participate in the development of a diverse therapeutic pipeline driven by a transformative core technology. The position of Research Associate II will assist the Downstream Purification Process Development group at Encoded Therapeutics. A qualified candidate will be responsible for purification process development and support purification of our lead program at small and pilot scales. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, flexible and able to perform key responsibilities across multiple projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Requirements

* Continue to help innovate, optimize and evaluate our scale-up purification process
* Relevant experience in the following purification or separation techniques: Cell culture fluid depth filtration, tangential flow-filtration, column chromatography techniques such as affinity, ion-exchange, multimodal or hydrophobic interaction chromatography
* Experience with AKTA Pure, Avant or Pilot or similar is desired
* Assist in executing in-process assays including PCR, ELISAs or HPLC based assays to support process development of rAAV products and process intermediates

* Understanding of HPLC techniques such as SEC, RP-HPLC, ion-exchange or hydrophobic interaction chromatography is preferred

* Assist in buffer and solution making to support upstream/downstream scale-up activities (including low-endotoxin buffers) and analytical assays
* The employee will help compile, analyze and interpret data, write reports if necessary and present data in team meetings
* Must have a drive to troubleshoot process challenges, learn new and emerging AAV technologies with a strong sense of initiative
* Work in a multi-disciplinarian environment to assist multiple groups in the development and execution of study plans, process procedures, assay development and qualification, writing of SOPs or assist in the tech transfer to CMO or CMC related activities

Requirements:

* B.S in a relevant area of specialization (biochemistry, biochemical engineering, chemical engineering, biological sciences, virology or molecular biology)
* 2+ years of industry and/or academic experience in assay development or in a process development setting
* Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential and effective interpersonal, technical discretion and ability to multitask effectively are strongly desired
* Proficient in Microsoft based Windows programs such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Familiarity with Unicorn, Empower, SoftMax Pro is desired
