Are you a passionate and resilient educator with a commitment to inclusive teaching? A specialist school in Sheffield is seeking enthusiastic SEN Class Teachers to join its dedicated team, supporting learners with complex needs across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
This multi-site school provides a rich and inclusive learning environment for students with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities, including physical, sensory, communication, behavioural, and medical challenges. The curriculum is built on four foundational pillars: Communication & Literacy, Cognition & Learning, Social & Emotional Development, and Physical & Sensory Learning. These foundations guide a personalised, pathway-based approach to education that supports each student’s unique journey.
About the Role: You will be working as a class tutor for students with complex physical and learning needs. The role involves delivering a broad and engaging curriculum tailored to individual developmental levels, with a strong emphasis on communication, independence, and emotional regulation.
Students follow one of three curriculum pathways:
- Pathway 1: Focused on basic skills and classroom-based learning.
- Pathway 2: Sensory-based curriculum with structured play and communication strategies such as AAC, Makaton, and Zones of Regulation.
- Pathway 3: Subject-specific curriculum with modified National Curriculum content, Entry Level exams, and multi-sensory learning strategies.
What We’re Looking For:
- QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience working with SEND learners, particularly those with complex needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
- Willingness to train in Team Teach (if not already certified).
- Ability to deliver high-quality teaching across a range of subjects.
