Electronics Technician

£25000

Temporary post available immediately for an Electronics Technician to join our clients team in Cambridge. This role will be an integral part of the Electronics Development team focused on supporting project work through development of custom prototypes, building and maintaining test rigs, debug and repairing PCBAs etc as well as general lab support activities.

Responsibilities for Electronics Technician

• PCB debug, modification and repair
• Building electronic and electromechanical assembly prototypes
• Maintenance of the development robotic systems including debug and repair
• Maintenance of the development test rigs such as life test rigs
• Supporting project work by building custom cable assembles, modifying PCBs etc
• Lab support activities e.g. component stocking, tool storage and management, ordering and specifying of consumables
• Writing documents such as test reports, work instructions etc
• Running test scripts and maintaining test records
• Creating and updating cable assembly drawings and BoMs

The Electronics Technician
• A can-do attitude for a variety of tasks
• The ability to keep accurate records, e.g. serial numbers, test reports, etc
• Experience of debugging electro-mechanical systems to get to root cause
• Familiarity with using measurement and test equipment such as bench power supplies, multi-meters, oscilloscopes
• SMD soldering skills on small components (e.g. 0402s / fine pitch QFNs), use of hot air pencils, hot plates etc
• Cable assembly skills (use of crimp tools, wire cutters and associated hand tools)
• Experience of keeping a lab stocked with components and tools, and keeping lab tidy
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools such as Word and Excel

It would also be helpful if you have:
• A relevant NVQ/BTECH qualification with practical experience working with complex electro-mechanical systems.
