Housing Income Officer Housing Income Officer – Fixed Term | 35 Hours | Hybrid (20–40% Office Based) | £32,881 London / £28,886 Regional | Stratford or Trafford Are you an experienced Housing Income Officer looking for your next opportunity in a fast-paced income management environment?We are recruiting for a Housing Income Officer to join our Income Management Team on a fixed-term basis (12 months, 7 months or 6 months).This hybrid role is based in Stratford (E15 4PH) or Trafford (M32 0TH) with 20–40% office attendance required.Salary:£32,881 per annum (London weighted)£28,886 per annum (Regional)Start Date: 30 March 2026Contract Type: Fixed Term (1x 12 months; 1x 7 months; 1x 6 months)Hours: Full Time – 35 hours per weekJob Summary As a Housing Income Officer, you will manage a dedicated portfolio of rent accounts, taking responsibility for reducing arrears, maximising rental income and supporting residents to sustain their tenancies.This is a high-volume, resident-facing role where the Housing Income Officer will negotiate repayment arrangements, provide income maximisation advice and take enforcement action where required. Court attendance forms part of the responsibilities of the Housing Income Officer position.If you are a resilient, proactive Housing Income Officer who can balance empathy with firm decision-making, this role offers autonomy, responsibility and genuine impact.Key Responsibilities of the Housing Income Officer
  • Managing your own portfolio of rent accounts to reduce arrears and minimise bad debt
  • Negotiating and agreeing sustainable repayment plans in line with policy and pre-court protocols
  • Taking recovery action including serving notices and preparing cases for court
  • Attending court hearings where required
  • Handling inbound and outbound calls in a high-volume environment
  • Supporting residents with income maximisation and signposting to welfare, employment and money advice services
  • Maintaining accurate system records and documentation
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across Housing, Finance and Income teams
The Housing Income Officer will work independently while contributing to wider team objectives and performance targets.What We’re Looking For To succeed as a Housing Income Officer, you will demonstrate:
  • Proven customer service experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Confidence managing sensitive or challenging conversations

  • Resilience and professionalism under pressure
Desirable:
  • Experience in arrears management, debt recovery or income collection
  • Knowledge of welfare benefits and pre-action protocols
