Job Title: Stores Person
Location: Pimlico
Salary: £35,000 per annum
Sector: GAS CONTRACTOR - STORES SUPPORT TO ENGINEERS
This position provides general stores support to the Engineers, Purchasing department and Contracts Managers by performing stores management/ allocation (other duties as needed and assigned). The role requires good knowledge of mechanical and electrical components associated with repairs and installation works, as well as experience within Construction or Building services industry.
Key Responsibilities* Receive deliveries to site, including notification of deliveries to purchasing department.
* Perform quality check function for goods and parts received.
* Ensure goods received are stored in the relevant location of the stores department.
Stock Control* Manage stock, record inventory, returns and replenishment.
* Undertake stock counts and reconciliation against inventory.
* Ensure stock items have appropriate codes.
* Ensure full traceability of all stored materials/items.
Materials Issue* Ready materials to engineers for daily work the day before ready for issuance on the day.
* Use stores requisition system and keep records.
* Control and monitor specialist tooling.
* Deliver materials/equipment as required.
Reporting* Produce various reports (as requested).
* Report all damage visually observed within area of work/site.
* Report any/all property damage.
General* Respond to telephone calls to the stores.
* Provide counter service for personnel calling in at stores to collect items.
* Keep/maintain stores areas in a clean, tidy, and safe condition.
Quality, Health and Safety* Participate in safety tours, behavioural assessments, risk assessments, environmental impact assessments and audits.
* Contribute to the compilation of stores operational procedures.
* Control storage of gas bottles in strict compliance with legislative requirements.
* Obtain relevant COSHH datasheet, store on company drive and advise H&S Advisor.
* Control waste materials management in conjunction with H&S function (fluids, packaging, scrap materials).
* Participate to continuous improvement programs.
* Adhere to company rules, respect, and apply safety rules.
* Operate company vehicles in accordance with Company rules and legal requirements.
Performance* Undertake work related training to improve knowledge and skills.
* Take responsibility for your performance to ensure that the service you provide is of high quality and compliant with Company's policies and procedures.
* Follow the framework of performance management and monitoring, championing best practice and a high-level performance culture throughout the Company.
* Liaise with both internal and external contact in a friendly and helpful manner in order to uphold and strengthen the values of GEM Environmental Building Services.
Qualifications* Educated to GCSE level in English and Maths minimum grade C.
* NVQ level 2 in plumbing and heating is desirable but not essential.
Key Skills* Knowledge of mechanical and electrical components associated with repairs and installation works.
* Knowledge of construction or building services sector.
* Experience in working to deadlines in a busy office environment.
* Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with people in a variety of circumstances and from various backgrounds.
* Possess a thorough, organised and detail-oriented approach to work.
* Able to plan, prioritise, and coordinate, multi-task and complete work assignments within deadlines.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
