SENCO / Cover Teacher - Primary School

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and experienced SENCO / Cover Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Stevenage area. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a school that values support, collaboration, and every child's unique potential.

The Role:

This is a dual-role position, combining responsibilities as the school's Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) with that of a cover teacher across various year groups. You will be instrumental in shaping and delivering the school's SEND provision, while also offering high-quality classroom teaching in the absence of other staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead on the development and implementation of the SEND strategy across the school

Work closely with class teachers, parents, and external professionals to support pupils with additional needs

*

Oversee EHCP processes, referrals, and interventions

*

Provide in-class cover as required, delivering engaging lessons across KS1 and KS2

*

Maintain strong relationships with pupils and promote an inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate:

*

Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

*

Has previous experience working as a SENCO (SENCO qualification desirable but not essential)

*

Confident teaching across the primary age range

*

Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice

*

Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills

*

Passionate about inclusive education and pupil well-being
