The Opportunity

Our client is a well-established organisation operating within the events and media space, delivering high-profile experiences, digital platforms and content to engaged professional audiences.

As part of their continued growth, our client are looking to appoint a Finance Manager to join the expanding finance team. This is a newly created, hands-on role offering excellent exposure to senior decision-makers across the business.

You will play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the finance function, managing a small team, and driving improvements in systems and processes as the business evolves. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to make a real impact in a growing organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Financial Reporting & Management Accounts

  • Take ownership of Group Management Accounts, ensuring timely and accurate delivery
  • Prepare financial reports for the B2B division
  • Review reporting for the Consumer Division

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with sales, marketing, and operations teams
  • Provide clear financial insights and commentary to non-finance stakeholders

Financial Operations

  • Review and approve weekly and monthly payment runs
  • Prepare VAT returns and ensure HMRC compliance
  • Produce statutory accounts for multiple entities
  • Liaise with external auditors for year-end processes and tax reporting

Analysis & Performance Improvement

  • Conduct financial analysis, identifying trends and opportunities
  • Support strategic decision-making with actionable insights
  • Monitor costs and implement efficiency improvements

Process Improvement

  • Review systems, controls, and processes
  • Drive best practice and continuous improvement within the finance function

About You

  • ACA / ACCA qualified
  • Experience managing or supervising a team
  • Background in practice (audit or similar) looking to move into industry, or existing Finance Manager experience within an SME
  • Comfortable in a hands-on role within a small team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Excel skills (essential); SAGE 200 experience (desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage across departments
  • A proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment
