Your new school
Ripplevale School and College, is a thriving independent special school, for 170 students aged 6 to 25 years old, located in the historic town of Rochester. As part of the Ripplevale family of schools, we provide a holistic, child centred approach to meeting the needs of our students, most of whom have an Education and Health Care Plan. Identified needs may include ASC, dyslexia, speech, language and communication difficulties, DCD, sensory, and high levels of anxiety.
Your new role
As the Dyslexia Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting learners with dyslexia and related literacy needs across the school and college. Working under the direction of the Head of English, you will design and deliver structured, cumulative and multisensory programmes-both one-to-one and in small groups-to help learners achieve their full potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating bespoke, person-centred learning resources for students with dyslexia.
- Supporting learners in class and during targeted intervention sessions, ensuring effective access to the curriculum.
- Collaborating with teachers to plan and adapt learning activities.
- Delivering remote learning materials where needed.
- Monitoring progress, maintaining accurate assessment records and providing regular feedback.
- Acting as a role model and contributing to staff mentoring, coaching and development.

What you'll need to succeed
To excel in this role, you will bring a specialist understanding of dyslexia and a passion for inclusive education. You will also demonstrate:
- Experience supporting learners with additional literacy needs and dyslexia.
- The ability to deliver structured, multisensory literacy interventions.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with learners, teachers and families.
- Confidence in developing individual learning resources and adapting materials.
- A commitment to safeguarding, equality and student wellbeing.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to maintain detailed assessment and progress records.
- A proactive, collaborative and learner-centred mindset.
