Senior Biodiversity Ecological Consultant

Are you an experienced ecologist with a passion for biodiversity, habitat conservation, and delivering top-quality ecological advice? Do you want to lead meaningful projects that drive Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), sustainability, and positive environmental outcomes?

We're excited to be recruiting on behalf of a boutique, growing environmental consultancy that's looking for a Senior Biodiversity Ecological Consultant to join their diverse team. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a senior role where you can make a real difference, mentoring colleagues, delivering projects and work with a wide range of exciting clients.

What We're Looking For

As a Senior Biodiversity Ecological Consultant, you will:

* At least 4 years professional background in ecology, biodiversity, and environmental consultancy

* CIEEM or equivalent professional membership

* Solid understanding of Biodiversity Net Gain policy and ecological planning frameworks

* Experience in protected species surveys, habitat assessments, and ecological mitigation

* Skilled in writing technical reports, including EcIA, HRA, and biodiversity reports

* Familiarity with GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and biodiversity data analysis

* Bat species and development with relevant licence(s) and bat mitigation design; or

* Biodiversity Net Gain with botanical and vegetation survey expertise, and biodiversity design experience.

About the Role

The Senior Biodiversity/Ecological Consultant will be responsible for:

* Assessment and reporting, eg CEMP, LEMP, HRA and EcIA, key policies, legislation and standards that underpin quality services to clients

* Analysing multiple data strands, collating complex information and clearly reporting results

* Reviewing and approving technical reports

* Innovating and providing appropriate ecological mitigation and recommendations

* Advising and guiding our clients and colleagues with accuracy, clarity and openness

* Confidently collaborating with a range of scientific, engineering and architectural professionals in the planning and development sector, to deliver high quality, meaningful and timely outputs

Managing Projects and Cross- Team Collaboration

* Leading Team events on projects, collaborating with colleagues/associates, leading project work and fieldwork, and co-ordinating tasks and deliverables.

* Guiding and managing graduates and assistants, and mentoring colleagues

* Delivering client service, with high standards of work within agreed timescales and budgets

* Clear, confident advice directly to clients on their plans and projects, and in meetings both internal and external

* Ability to manage and deliver projects from end-to-end.
