Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Surrey (Chaldon area)

Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist educational setting supporting children and young people with Autism (ASD), Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and learning differences.

• Lead small group learning sessions and deliver planned activities in line with curriculum goals.
• Provide targeted support for pupils with additional needs, adapting strategies to promote engagement and progress.
• Assist with planning and assessment alongside teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Support behaviour regulation, emotional wellbeing, and positive communication.
• Model excellent practice and guide other support staff where required.
• Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment.

• HLTA qualification (or equivalent experience delivering lessons/cover).
• Strong understanding of SEN strategies, particularly around ASD and SEMH.
• Confident, adaptable, and able to take initiative.
• Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• A calm, resilient and supportive approach.
