Job Title: Jr. Planner
Status: Non/ Exempt- Hourly
Reports to: Purchasing Manager
As a Jr. Planner, with oversite you will be responsible for planning, organizing and working with production team to support scheduling of orders and services for established and scheduled customer commitments; receiving and responding to customer inquiries, communicating potential schedule impacts and escalating issues to the internal Business Manager; working closely with internal departments such as manufacturing, procurement, materials, engineering, quality, logistics and the Business Manager to ensure timely communication of lead times, schedule impacts and changes, material shortages, etc.
Plans and prepares production schedules for manufacture of industrial or commercial products: Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
Plans sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
Confers with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.
Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
Prepares production reports.
May prepare lists of required materials, tools, and equipment.
May prepare purchase orders to obtain materials, tools, and equipment
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
BA/BS degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Operations and 2-3 years of related work experience;
Experience utilizing an ERP/MRP system
Proven track record of providing superior customer interface
Strong analytical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Successfully manage frequently changing priorities
Extremely proficient in Microsoft Excel, and adept at using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Power Point
Apply common sense and use discretion in business dealings
PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB:
Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls and talk or hear
Frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms
Stand, walk, push, reach overhead and bend to the floor
Occasionally lift weight or exert force up to 30 pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
WORKING ENVIRONMENT OF THE JOB:
The duties of this job are performed in both an office environment and a warehouse environment, thereby experiencing some minor to moderate level of noise due to office equipment and/or warehouse equipment.
