Ready to step into a key leadership role where you can influence quality, output, and team performance every single day? This is your chance to lead from the front in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment as our Production Team Leader.
 
We're hiring a Production Team Leader to join our Wash department — a critical area responsible for keeping our optical grading and prep operations running at peak efficiency. You'll lead a small team, ensure machinery runs smoothly, support lean production practices, and drive performance across safety, quality, and yield.
 
Job Responsibilities

Lead and develop a team of operatives to deliver production KPIs and maintain high standards across the Wash area
Oversee pre-start checks, machinery setup, and day-to-day operation of grading equipment and washline
Monitor team performance, coach and support staff, and maintain up-to-date training records
Plan labour and resource allocation in line with short- and medium-term production forecasts
Ensure all machinery is cleaned and maintained according to SOPs, and support asset care tasks
Collaborate with engineering and planning teams to drive continuous improvement and machine reliability
Identify and address underperformance quickly and professionally
Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and Health & Safety policies at all times
Act as the go-to person on shift for troubleshooting issues, resolving bottlenecks and escalating where required
Investigate accidents or near misses, encourage risk reporting, and uphold safety-first culture
Lead production trials, gather data, and report findings for operational improvements 
Skills and Experience

Proven experience leading teams in a production or food manufacturing environment
Hands-on experience operating or overseeing machinery such as optical graders (e.g. Celox)
High level of computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Excellent numeracy, literacy, and communication skills
Skilled in coaching and mentoring others with a collaborative and supportive leadership style
Strong problem-solving mindset and the confidence to make decisions in a fast-moving environment
Comfortable leading by example on the shop floor and upholding standards
Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles is beneficial

£35,700 per annum
40 hours per week
Day shift - 5 days out of 7
