## Applicant Notification

#### Two employment incentives are offered for a limited time to successful part-time Aviation Flight candidates:

#### Incentive #1

1. Upon hire, the new part-time flight instructor will have a one time, up to $1,500 reimbursement from Lane, that will go toward a CFI, CFII or MEI certification. This incentive is provided with the tacit understanding the instructor will stay with the college for 2 years.

#### Incentive #2

2. Should the instructor stay with the College as an active flight instructor for two (2) years, the instructor will receive a one-time $1,000 bonus.

#### Limitations

3. This trial offer is of limited duration and will be extended to a maximum of five hired applicants who have yet to complete their respective certifications during the 2019-20 fiscal year 4. This offer is limited to those who complete their certification within one year of employment.

* The Aviation Academy of Lane Community College invites applications for one or more part-time Flight Instructor positions.

## Salary/Compensation Statement

#### * Our application is used to determine your initial salary placement for selected candidates. All employment and education history will be considered.

Part-time faculty _flight instruction positions_ will be paid based on relevant experience and education in concurrence with the Faculty Union Contract Part 26.5 Flight Instructors.

* Eligible, part-time Aviation Faculty Classroom instructors will be paid based on Faculty Union Contract article 30.
* Starting salary Range: Step 1 - Step 10

The Faculty part-time benefits package includes a generous contribution toward medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, long term disability and paid sick leave.

All employees are compensated through electronic direct deposit.

## Working Schedule

Variable, based on work assignment of between three (3) to ten (10) students as noted on Master Flight Schedule.

# Required QUALIFICATIONS

## Required Education

* FAA Licenses & Ratings as noted:

a. Commercial Pilot Certificate, airplane single engine land, instrument airplane.
b. FAA Flight Instructor Certificate, Airplane Single Engine Land, Instrument Airplane.

## Required Experience

* Licenses & Ratings as noted above.
* Two (2) years and 200 hours of logged flying time as a pilot of powered aircraft.

# Preferred QUALIFICATIONS

## Preferred Education

* FAA Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII), airplane multi-engine land, Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI).
* FAA Ground Instructor Certificate Advanced and Instrument.

## Preferred Experience

* Preference given to graduates of Lane Aviation Academy Flight Program.
* Prior teaching experience under Part 141 regulations with FAA approved Training Course Outline.
* Flight Instructor experience under Part 61 with successful completion of 80% of ten or more students recommended for certification.

## Bilingual/Multicultural Statement

## Position Purpose

To provide high quality flight instruction under Part 141 and Part 61 FAA regulations for the Aviation Academy.

## Essential Functions

* Sustain currency in discipline and innovation in teaching.
* Evaluate and maintain accurate records of student progress and provide appropriate and timely feedback to students regarding performance.
* Continually evaluate and assess student outcomes through appropriate assessment tools/methods; actively utilize results to inform improvements at a program and course level.
* Faculty with teaching duties are responsible for evaluating student achievement, of clearly identified learning outcomes, consistent with core ability outcomes; meet accreditation requirements.
* Deliver academically sound, challenging and creative lessons.
* Keep required departmental records.
* Maintain and post teaching schedule, regular meetings and office hours.
* Adhere to college/departmental/divisional policies/procedures; Maintain physical campus presence for instruction and daily needs of students, departments, college and community, as specified in the College Online Policy and Procedure System #removed#/copps/documents/instructor-hours-campus.
* Exhibit compliance with accountability requirements for leave time, time sheet completion, release time, text book ordering and related functions.
* Communicate effectively with aviation academy students and staff, both verbally and in written form. Work with students from diverse cultural, economic, education, and ethnic backgrounds to fulfill academic goals.
* Incorporate college values into curriculum and promote a respectful learning environment including facilitating awareness of multicultural and diversity issues in curricula.
* Professionally represent the Aviation Academy.
* Continually evaluate and assess student outcomes through appropriate assessment tools/methods; actively utilize results to inform improvements at a program and course level, including assessing and enhancing multicultural and diversity frameworks.
* Faculty with teaching duties are responsible for evaluating student achievement, of clearly identified learning outcomes, consistent with core ability outcomes; meet accreditation requirements.
* Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.

#### Curriculum Delivery

#### Online Teaching and Student Support

* Expect to make use of the Learning Management System (LMS) to publish and update content, post grades and promote student engagement amongst students with course content;
* Use multiple modes of communication tools including online publishing, audio and video tools;
* Be present within the online course to interact with students, help guide asynchronous discussions and provide opportunities for students' voices to be heard within the online course;
* Monitor student progress and provide reasonable coaching and assistance to struggling students towards success;
* Review and grade all work submitted by students and provide timely and substantive feedback;
* Respond to student inquiries within 48 hours;
* Ensure that all materials created are accessible and meet the guidelines of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act;
* Post student attendance, grades, and course syllabus to the college LMS in accordance with college timelines;
* Use current best practices and pedagogies for teaching online including the application of online course quality frameworks for clearly providing course learning objectives to students, while consistently setting clear weekly and term-long expectations for work and assessment.
