Axon Moore are excited to be recruiting for a Purchase Ledger Team Leader on behalf of a well-established and growing organisation with a high-performing Transactional Finance function. This is a leadership role responsible for managing the AP function and overseeing the end-to-end payables operation across multiple entities. The successful candidate will ensure timely, accurate, and compliant supplier payments, while driving continuous improvement and efficiency across the team. The role requires a strong leader who can develop and inspire their team, while constantly seeking smarter, more effective ways of working.Location: West Manchester + Hybrid + FlexibilitySalary: £38,000 - £42,000Main duties:
  • Lead and manage the function, overseeing day-to-day operations and developing the team through clear objectives, performance management and ongoing support
  • Maintain full control of supplier ledgers, ensuring reconciliations are accurate, completed on time and regularly reviewed to minimise risk and outstanding items
  • Oversee all payment activity, including payment runs, ad-hoc payments and expenses, ensuring accuracy and appropriate approvals
  • Take ownership of supplier and internal query resolution, building strong stakeholder relationships to drive timely payments and high service standards
  • Support month-end processes, including reporting, accruals and subledger reviews, to ensure accurate financial results
  • Support the Finance Manager with monthly reporting
  • Drive continuous improvement across processes, collaborating with senior finance leadership to strengthen controls and enhance efficiency
Person specification:
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within an AP / P2P finance role
  • Previous experience managing / mentoring team members
  • Strong background in supplier reconciliations and complex query resolution
  • Experience managing Direct Debits within a high-volume environment
  • SAP experience (highly desirable)
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Knowledge of VAT and compliance requirements
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and proactive in improving processes
