Location: Student Accommodation Site, Aldershot, Hampshire

Contract Type: Temporary / Ad-hoc Cover

Hours: 9am to 4pm 3 days per week for 2 weeks, reducing to 1 day per week thereafter

Payrate: £14 per hour

DBS Required.

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Temporary Maintenance Operative to provide ad-hoc cover across a busy student accommodation site. This role focuses on completing essential day-to-day repair tasks, with a particular emphasis on maintaining and repairing door locks, handles, and basic fixtures to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment for residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance tasks, including:
  • Repairing and replacing door locks, handles, latches, and hinges
  • Troubleshooting and fixing minor issues in rooms and communal areas
  • Completing basic repairs to fixtures, fittings, and general building fabric
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and ensure all tasks are completed to a high standard.
• Conduct checks to identify repair needs and report any larger issues to the Maintenance Supervisor or Site Manager.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures at all times.
• Maintain accurate records of completed tasks.
• Provide professional and friendly customer service to student residents.

Requirements

• Previous experience in maintenance, repairs, or a similar hands-on role (preferred but not essential).
• Practical skills and confidence working with tools and basic hardware repairs.
• Ability to diagnose straightforward maintenance issues efficiently.
• Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
• Reliability, punctuality, and ability to work independently.
• A proactive, problem-solving mindset.
