Agile Program Manager (APM) Coach Brief Description Client is seeking an inspiring Program leader Coach that can spearhead a largescale in-house built application re-platform of our core reinsurance system. The role will report to the Head of PMO. The current state of agile maturity at company is about a 2 out of 5. Where we need help is scaling our speed to market using new developmentops processes. As this program matures and scales, we see the Agile Program Manager (APM) transitioning closer to a Release Train Engineer (RTE) role. This role will directly influence and own the program strategy, planning, and execution. At least 1 Scrum Master will report to the APM. The APM will lead and coach across the program for the following Agile Teams Claims Accounting CashCurrency EDI Underwriting Retro Reporting Data Conversion Essential Duties Manage and optimize the flow of value through the teams. Facilitate the management and prioritization of all work and ensure alignment to the strategic roadmap. Manage the program backlog that feeds work to the teams. Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs). Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process which drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning meetings. Facilitate the agile processes at the programtrain level, including planning periodic reviews and planning sessions (Pl Planning) with team and product stakeholders, such as ART Synch, Release Planning, System Demos Solution Demos, the Inspect Adapt Workshops, and the Scrum of Scrums. Facilitate Program Increment (PI) Planning readiness and the PI Planning Event. Optimize PI Planning readiness by fostering preparation of Vision, Backlogs, Roadmap, and Ideation processes. Foster communication and collaboration between Agile teams and all appropriate stakeholders. Encourage collaboration between teams, including Systems Team, Solution ArchitectsEngineering, etc. Remove barriers and impediments to team effectiveness. Collaborate with IT leadership to define tolerable risk levels and managemitigate risks and dependencies. Identify enterprise-level continuous improvement opportunities and drive implementation. Facilitate relentless improvement for the teams through continuous improvement opportunities and Inspect Adapt sessions. Matures Agile practices of teams and stakeholders. Track and communicate key metrics, including impediments, feature execution progress, and business value delivery. Report planning results and epic status to senior management, business owners, product owners and other stakeholders. Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets. Collaborate with the appropriate individuals to translate business strategy into technology strategy and ensure that capabilities required by the business are enabled. Work with the Lean Portfolio Management on program execution and operational excellence. Understand and operate within Lean Budgets and ensure adherence to Guardrails. Prior experience in Reinsurance andor Insurance Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach(example numerous Burn down techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.) Must be a dynamic and self-starting individual who is able to work independently or as part of a team with minimal guidance and direction Must be able to effectively prioritize and assign work in order to meet deadlines Must be able to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical users at all levels of an Organization Must demonstrate excellent leadership skills to manage various stakeholders effectively at the train and Solution level. Must demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and mentoring Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to present confidently before a large audience Excellent analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills Knowledge andor experience with widely successful Agile techniques User Stories, ATDD, TDD, BDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games is a plus Plus Knowledge of other Agile approaches XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD Plus Experience or Exposure of leading software development teams in technologies such as C, .NET, Mobile frameworks including Bootstrap and AngularJS, JBOSS Azure is a plus.
