Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-regarded Secondary SEND School in the London Borough of Brent, specialising in supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). We are currently seeking a qualified and dedicated SEND Teacher to join this dynamic setting, starting in September 2025.

The Role:

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and experienced teacher to work in a nurturing, structured environment where students benefit from tailored, individualised education. The role involves teaching pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, supporting a wide range of academic and social development needs within the context of autism-specific education.

Responsibilities:
  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to students with ASC

  • Supporting pupils in developing social communication, emotional regulation, and life skills

  • Working closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals

  • Monitoring and assessing progress against EHCP targets

  • Creating a safe, inclusive and predictable classroom environment

  • Contributing to the wider school community and participating in review meetings where necessary

Essential Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS) - essential

  • Proven experience teaching pupils with ASC and additional complex needs

  • Ability to adapt the curriculum and use visual, sensory, and structured teaching strategies

  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills, with a calm and consistent approach

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Desirable:
  • Experience with PECS, TEACCH, Makaton, or other autism-specific interventions

  • Previous work in a special school or autism provision
