Test Engineer - Scientific Instrumentation

Location: London

A specialist engineering company in London is looking to recruit a Test Engineer to support the testing, validation and installation of advanced scientific instrumentation and engineering systems.

This role would suit a Test Engineer, Development Test Engineer, Electronics Test Engineer or Instrumentation Engineer with strong troubleshooting skills and a practical approach to testing complex equipment.

You will work alongside experienced engineers and technicians to carry out system testing, fault finding and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) before equipment is delivered to customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

* Testing complex scientific instruments and engineering systems

* Carrying out system testing and validation in line with test specifications

* Completing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)

* Logging and analysing test data and performance results

* Fault finding and troubleshooting mechanical and electronic issues

* Maintaining and calibrating test equipment and laboratory systems

* Working with engineers and technicians to prepare systems for shipment

* Supporting international installation and commissioning

* Liaising with customers regarding installation and technical requirements

* Providing customer training on system operation

Skills and Experience

* Experience as a Test Engineer, Electronics Test Engineer, Instrumentation Engineer or Development Test Engineer

* Strong fault finding and troubleshooting skills

* Good mechanical and practical engineering ability

* Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail

* Ability to work effectively within an engineering team

Desirable

* Degree in Engineering, Physics or a related technical discipline

* Experience working with low temperature systems or scientific instrumentation
