Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum, Pro-rata

Financial ControllerThis is a broad and hands-on role involving strategic financial reporting, compliance, and team leadership, playing a key part in supporting the Chief Operating Officer and the broader leadership team.Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day finance operations and overseeing a transactional team of 2.
  • Produce monthly management accounts, reports, and KPI dashboards, including balance sheets, profit and loss, and cash flow statements.
  • Analyse financial performance variances and provide insights and recommendations.
  • Identify revenue and cost efficiencies through data analysis.
  • Support the preparation of financial forecasts and budgets.
  • Maintain up-to-date forecasting and cash flow projections.
  • Assist with preparing Board Packs on a quarterly basis.
  • Provide financial support and information to the Board as required.
  • Oversee and support VAT return submissions and partial exemption calculations.
  • Ensure compliance with VAT legislation and correct recovery rates.
  • Develop and monitor financial controls and accounting procedures.
  • Oversee team processes and streamline efficiency.
  • Prepare annual statutory accounts and returns.
  • Lead the year-end audit process, including schedule preparation and timely response to audit queries.
  • Lead ad hoc projects to enhance finance systems and processes.
Person SpecificationThe ideal candidate will:
  • Be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or part-qualified with extensive relevant experience.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of financial control environments.
  • Have substantial experience with VAT, ideally including partial exemption schemes.
  • Be accountable for delivering month-end and year-end processes, including audit and statutory accounts and Board presentation.
  • Possess strong analytical skills with the ability to interrogate financial data effectively.
  • Have excellent IT skills and be proficient in finance systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Be highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Be hands-on, with a willingness to engage in both strategic and operational financial activities.
