Independent Reviewing Officer (Quality Assurance Focus)

£40 per hour | Full-Time | Minimum 3 Days Onsite | Driving Required

We are seeking an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer with a strong background in Quality Assurance and regulatory compliance within children's residential and supported accommodation services. While the role is titled Independent Reviewing Officer, candidates must bring substantial experience in key operational and compliance areas, particularly Regulation 44 visits.

Purpose of the Role

To ensure high-quality, safe, and compliant placement provision for children and young people by maintaining robust Quality Assurance systems, monitoring provider performance, coordinating due diligence processes, and supporting continuous improvement across Children's Placements services.
This role involves visiting residential homes, undertaking Quality Assurance activity, and responding confidently to serious concerns. The successful candidate will have experience working alongside LADO and attending Strategy Meetings, with the ability to make informed decisions regarding QA, compliance responses, and appropriate next steps.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct Regulation 44 visits and complete detailed Quality Assurance reports
Monitor provider performance and identify risks, trends, and areas for improvement
Liaise with providers to obtain QA documentation, clarify compliance issues, and ensure accurate information exchange
Coordinate with internal teams including commissioning, placements, QA, and finance to ensure timely communication and action on provider quality issues
Provide professional advice and guidance to colleagues on QA standards, regulatory requirements, and provider documentation
Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and escalate where necessary
Participate in Strategy Meetings and work collaboratively with LADO
Essential Experience and Skills

Proven experience in Quality Assurance within children's social care or placements services
Experience working with LADO and involvement in safeguarding processes and Strategy Meetings
Ability to analyse performance data, identify trends, and make evidence-based decisions
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple processes, deadlines, and actions
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
