Pertemps are delighted to be working with our public sector client to recruit a Seasonal Park Ranger to support Natural Heritage services across Edinburgh.

Role: Park Ranger (Seasonal)
Location: Based at Hermitage of Braid, covering the Pentland Hills Regional Park
Hours: 36 hours per week (rota-based including weekends & shifts)
Pay Rate: £14.51 per hour
Duration: May 2026 - September 2026
Start Date: May 2026

About the Role
As a Seasonal Park Ranger, your main focus will be visitor management, ensuring a visible presence across key park hotspots and promoting responsible access in line with the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
You'll act as an ambassador for the park—providing guidance, ensuring safety, and helping protect the natural environment while delivering a high standard of public service.

What You'll Be Doing

Carrying out daily patrols across the Pentland Hills Regional Park
Acting as a first point of contact for visitors, offering advice and guidance
Promoting responsible access and environmental awareness
Monitoring and reporting health & safety, maintenance and environmental issues
Completing logs and reports on incidents, inspections and site activity
Supporting minor maintenance tasks including litter removal and basic repairs
Assisting with events, visitor engagement and educational activities
Installing and maintaining signage and park information
Liaising with community groups, partners and internal teams
Supporting wildlife and habitat protection through monitoring and reporting
Working Pattern

Rota-based shifts including weekends (June-September: 1 in 3 weekends off)
Early Shift: 7:00am - 3:00pm
Late Shift: 2:00pm - 10:00pm
Day Shift: 8:30am - 4:30pm
3-week rota pattern (Early / Late / Off) with scheduled days off
What We're Looking For

Full UK driving licence (essential)
Good level of physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in all weather
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good organisational and IT skills for reporting and record keeping
Experience working with the publicDesirable:

Knowledge of the Pentland Hills Regional Park
Understanding of the Scottish Outdoor Access Code
Background in environmental, countryside or land management
