About the RoleWe are an ISO 17025 laboratory providing UKAS accredited gauge, meter and equipment calibration throughout the whole of the UK. Operating for 32 years we have built a reputation for fast, reliable turnaround and excellent customer service.
We have a vacancy for one trainee engineer in our accredited laboratories. The work will either have a mechanical bias. They are hands on roles and you will learn how to calibrate measuring equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards. You will be calibrating equipment such as thread gauges, micrometers, DTIs and torque wrenches on the mechanical side
As your confidence and expertise increases you will become more independent and will be introduced to more complex work and develop a deeper understanding of metrology which in turn can lead to the possibility of more senior positions within the lab.
QUALIFICATIONS
We require a minimum of GCSE Maths Grade C(5) and BTEC Level 3 or 3 ‘A’ Levels in a relevant subject. Engineering or electrical/electronics qualifications are preferred but not required.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for someone who has strong practical skills with a natural aptitude and genuine interest in carrying out delicate mechanical work.
• You will need to have an exceptional level of attention to detail, the work requires high levels of concentration.
• If you have any practical hobbies where you use tools and/or use your hands that would be advantageous.
• You should have clear and legible handwriting.
• You should be prepared to work extra hours at times to meet customer deadlines.
• A full UK driving license (car) would be an advantage as there may be scope for site work at customer premises in the future.
