About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support a major transportation company on railway line upgrades as part of Control Period 7 (CP7). This is a high-impact interim role requiring a strong background in rail infrastructure and commercial management under the NEC suite of contracts.
You will work flexibly between Manchester and Leeds, collaborating with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure commercial success and compliance across the programme.
Key Responsibilities: - Manage all commercial aspects of rail infrastructure projects under NEC contracts
- Prepare and review cost plans, estimates, and valuations
- Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow
- Support procurement and contract administration
- Conduct risk and value management
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and external stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with company and industry standards
- Provide accurate and timely reporting to senior management
Requirements: - Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the rail sector – essential
- Strong working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts – essential
- Experience working on CP6 or CP7 projects – highly desirable
- Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Relevant degree or professional qualification (e.g., RICS, CIOB) preferred
Additional Information: - This role is outside IR35
- Travel between Manchester and Leeds is required
- Hybrid working model with 3 days in-office (either location)
