Job Title: Teaching Assistant for Year 4 Class with SEN and Behavioural Support

Position Overview: We are working closely with a school in Burnley who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their Year 4 team, supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and behavioural challenges. This role will involve working closely with the class teacher to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring all students have the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, dyslexia, and emotional/behavioural difficulties.
• Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies to support students in achieving their learning goals.
• Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering differentiated lessons to accommodate diverse learning needs and styles.
• Foster a safe, nurturing, and supportive classroom atmosphere conducive to learning for all students.
• Promote positive behaviour and social skills development through proactive intervention and reinforcement techniques.
• Collaborate with other staff members, parents/carers, and external professionals to address the unique needs of each student and ensure holistic support.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, behaviour incidents, and interventions, contributing to ongoing assessment and evaluation.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
• Relevant experience working with children with SEN and behavioural challenges, preferably in an educational setting.
• Knowledge of various SEN conditions and understanding of effective intervention strategies.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
• Patience, empathy, and resilience in managing challenging behaviours and situations.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the classroom environment.
• Willingness to undergo additional training and professional development as required.
