Ashton Recruitment require a Nightshift Transport Planner our client based in Ballymena.
Position: Nightshift Transport Planner
Location: Ballymena
Duration: Permanent
Pay Rate: Depending on experience
Duties will include:
- Create and adjust transport plans for night operations based on customer orders, deadlines, and driver availability.
- Allocate loads to vehicles and drivers in the most efficient way.
- Track vehicle locations using GPS/telematics.
- Monitor progress of deliveries and collections, resolving any issues (e.g. delays, breakdowns, route changes).
- Communicate with night drivers to provide instructions, updates, and support.
- Ensure drivers are adhering to legal driving hours and company policies.
- React quickly to unplanned events such as traffic delays, vehicle breakdowns, or last-minute customer changes.
- Re-route or reassign deliveries as needed.
- Ensure all transport operations meet legal and safety standards (tachograph rules, driver rest periods, etc.).
- Maintain accurate records of routes, incidents, and driver logs.
- Coordinate with warehouses, customers, and other departments (e.g. day-shift planners) to ensure smooth transitions.
- Provide handover notes for morning staff.
- Operate transport management systems (TMS) and fleet tracking software.
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum of two years' experience in a comparable transport planning role, with proven proficiency in using Transport Management Systems (TMS).
- Excellent organisational and planning abilities, with a strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrates composure under pressure and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Effective communicator, particularly when coordinating with drivers working independently overnight.
- Sound understanding of logistics operations, transport legislation, and driver compliance regulations.
- Capable of working autonomously and making informed decisions during unsupervised night shifts.
- Proficient in relevant software applications and systems used within a transport or logistics environment.
- Possession of a full, valid UK driving licence.
Desirable Criteria:
- Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is an advantage
