Train to be a Teaching Assistant on our Special Needs or Early Careers Teaching Assistant (ETAP) programme!

This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates who want to move into a career in teaching. We’ve partnered up with Creative Education to provide in-depth support and training on all areas of supporting Special Needs in Schools.

You will then have the opportunity to be paired with one our partnered schools, whether your interest be; Complex Needs, Social, Emotional and Mental Health, or Profound Learning Difficulties. There’s something for everyone! Both Primary and Secondary positions available!

About the role:

  • Full Time Position - starting ASAP!

  • Tailor your programme around your interests - Complex Needs, SEMH, Mainstream, Speech and Language, Autism etc. Develop key skills in these areas!

  • Gain a Special Educational Needs, Teaching Assistant Qualification!

  • Have access to over 200+ Modules (Phonics, SEND, Classroom practice etc, Supporting additional needs, Understanding Autism, Understanding attachment, Complex Needs)

  • Experience what life in different schools is like!

  • Be paid between £80 - £90 per day, 8.30am - 3.30pm

About you:

  • Be passionate about supporting the development of children

  • Be personable, kind and empathetic

  • Be versatile, willing to learn and develop your skills

  • Be confident, and have a strong sense of behaviour management

  • Have some experience with children, or be passionate about doing so

  • Driver - preferable but not essential

Training will be provided in the following areas:

  • Enhanced Safeguarding Pathway - Keeping children safe whilst in your care is our number one priority. Our enhanced Safeguarding pathway will help you to understand your role in child protection,how you can spot signs of abuse, how to ensure you are accurately reporting and assess how you can support students in protecting themselves whilst online.

  • How to be a great Teaching Assistant - You’ve joined our programme not just because you want to be a teaching assistant, but because you want to be a GREAT teaching assistant! This course will teach you about personal and professional conduct in schools, the basics of teaching and learning, how to effectively work with other teachers and how you can go above and beyond to support your students.

  • Special Needs Awareness Pathway - Over a million students in the UK across all age ranges have additional or special educational needs. Whether you work in an SEND setting or in a mainstream school, it's essential that you’re able to effectively work with SEND students. This course will cover aspects of Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Attachment Disorder, Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD and will give you a basic understanding of how you may need to change your approach to reach all of the pupils in your class.

  • Differentiate your approach to safeguarding with SEND pupils - Safeguarding is essential to our jobs as Educational professionals, when working with vulnerable students it is crucial to put in place additional parameters to support students.

  • Understanding the link between Abuse and Mental Health - Some students you work with may have Mental Health issues that affect their access to learning, this short course looks at considering how abuse may have influenced those Mental Health issues.

  • Enable Children to Feel Safe - Taking an informed approach to children with special needs and making them feel safe, creates a space where children can thrive.

  • Managing Pupils Behaviour to Improve Learning - In secondary schools behavior management can be a concern, this course helps you look at how to help students focus and reduce behavioural issues.

  • Effectively Working with Other Adults in School - When working in SEND schools, you’re part of a massive team, working with other teaching assistants, teachers, SLT and office staff to protect the welfare of children. This is a great course on how to ensure you work effectively with other staff in your school.
