Laboratory Technician & Weighbridge Operative

Location: Longcliffe

Salary: Competitive

Hours: 50 hours per week typically from 7.00pm until 5.00am (subject to discussion)

Established in 1927, Longcliffe Quarries Ltd is the UK’s leading independent supplier of limestone powder, granules and aggregates. As one of the few remaining independent hard rock quarries in England, and one of the largest still family owned. We employ over 170 people, including those whose families also have worked with us for generations, and many of our employees have been with the company for over 25 years.

Main Duties

• Routine chemical and physical analysis of Longcliffe products utilising both modern and traditional methods
• Product and environmental sampling and quality control duties in line with company procedures
• Accurate maintenance of testing and inspection records in accordance with all relevant quality and environmental standards to which the company subscribes
• To ensure all products loaded and despatched at night comply with specification and are ticketed through the weighbridge correctly.

Skills and Qualifications

• Good understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental Practices
• Flexibility to undertake a range of tasks
• Team player and flexible ‘can do’ attitude
• Willingness to learn and develop is essential
• Basic IT skills and good communicator
• Good numeracy and literacy skills required
• An interest in science and the mineral extraction industry
