Our client is seeking a skilled Design Engineer to take responsibility for the design and costing of complex life safety and electronic security systems. This will include, but is not limited to: fire detection, voice alarm, disabled refuge, CCTV, access control, intercom, public address, structured cabling, and intruder systems.

Key Responsibilities - Design Engineer

Support the Design Management team with sales enquiries and tenders
Design a range of life safety, security, and integrated building systems based on customer requirements, specifications, drawings, and current industry standards
Prepare proposals, quotations, and tender documents, ensuring all submissions are accurate, timely, and aligned with company standards
Assess security and fire risk factors, enhancing designs where required or providing feedback and recommendations to clients
Ensure all designs and quotations comply with relevant technical and regulatory standards (e.g., EN, BS, HTM) as well as BAFE/NSI Codes of Practice
Adhere to company policies regarding quality, health & safety, and false alarm management
Produce detailed CAD design and construction drawings, ensuring handovers are completed accurately and project deadlines are met
Travel to client and supplier sites across the UK and Europe as required
Qualifications & Requirements - Design Engineer

Proven experience in the design of fire and security systems
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to design systems, prepare cost sheets, and draft proposal documents
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders
Confident in interpreting and working from specifications and technical drawings
Highly organised with excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and time management skills
Desirable Skills & Experience
Proficiency in AutoCAD software packages
Up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies, technical standards, and regulatory requirements relevant to system design
Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO9001, SSQS101, FSQS121
Strong understanding of the construction industry and tendering processes
Previous experience working within a goal-driven, results-oriented environment
