Salary: £25.00 - £30.00 per hour

Prospero Teaching are seeking a compassionate, engaging, and experienced SEN Tutor to support a young person in Year 10 who is currently at risk of permanent exclusion (PEX). The successful candidate will deliver 12 hours of bespoke, 1:1 tuition per week in the Southampton (SO16) area.

About the Young Person:

  • Year 10 student, not currently working at Age-Related Expectations (ARE)
  • Has an EHCP and a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and selective mutism
  • Requires support with emotional regulation and re-engagement in learning
  • Needs a Tutor who can build trust, boost confidence, and create personalised learning sessions

As a Tutor, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, tailored lessons that meet the student's individual needs and interests
  • Support the young person in developing emotional regulation strategies
  • Foster a positive, supportive, and safe learning environment
  • Gradually build a strong rapport and encourage participation at the student's own pace
  • Work closely with parents/carers and other professionals as needed

About you:

  • Have at least 1 year of experience working within UK schools
  • Are confident in planning and delivering creative, learner-centred sessions
  • Experience working with young people with ASD, selective mutism, and/or EHCPs (essential)
  • Kind, patient, and considerate approach
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials creatively
  • Confident in supporting emotional and social development
