Join the college Student Engagement and Wellbeing team as a Specialist Assessor within the Additional Learning Support department. This role is crucial for providing specialist guidance, support, and assessment in areas of Specific Learning Difficulties such as Dyslexia, ASC, and speech and language. You will also support Exam Access Arrangements (EAA) and contribute to our strategic ambitions in education.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Deliver high-quality multi-sensory, structured cumulative workshops, including the preparation of learning materials.
- Complete Form 8 documentation and work with the exams officer to ensure Exam Access Arrangements are applied timely.
- Assess students with Specific Learning Difficulties for diagnostic purposes and exam concessions to required standards.
- Develop comprehensive individual student learning plans, reviews, and lesson plans.
- Contribute effectively to teamwork and participate in the College quality assurance cycle.
- Act as a tutor for a group of students if required, providing interviewing, advice, guidance, and enrolling of students.
- Maintain high standards of student conduct and liaise with curriculum teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies to provide pastoral care.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Level 2 qualifications in English and maths (GCSE/Functional Skills).
- A recognised Level 7 qualification in assessing specific learning difficulties (e.g., Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma in SpLD or equivalent).
- Current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) issued by a recognised professional body (e.g., PATOSS, BDA, Dyslexia Guild).
- Proven experience in assessing learners with SpLD across a range of age groups, particularly post-16.
- Strong understanding of the JCQ regulations and guidance for access arrangements.
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.
- High level of organisational skills and the ability to manage a caseload and meet deadlines.Benefits:
