This role involves carrying out high-volume fire safety surveys across social housing properties, assessing elements such as fire doors, compartmentation, and means of escape to ensure compliance with current regulations. The surveyor is responsible for accurately recording findings in Excel, identifying risks, and producing clear reports with recommendations to support building safety and compliance.

Description
- Extensive experience conducting high-volume fire risk or condition surveys within social housing environments (e.g., completion of 3,000+ surveys).
- Strong knowledge of fire safety regulations, legislation, and guidance relevant to residential properties (such as FRA principles and compartmentation).
- Proven ability to assess fire doors, passive fire protection measures, means of escape, and general building safety compliance.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data recording, analysis, reporting, and tracking survey outcomes.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify defects, non-compliance issues, and potential fire risks accurately.
- Strong organisational and time management skills to handle large survey volumes and meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to produce clear, concise, and professional reports with actionable recommendations.
- Good understanding of building construction types and materials, particularly within social housing stock.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining consistency, quality, and compliance across all surveys
Profile
- Demonstrated experience completing a high volume of surveys (e.g., 3,000+), showing consistency and reliability in delivery.
- Practical experience using Microsoft Excel for managing large datasets, recording findings, and producing reports.
- Solid understanding of fire risk assessments and residential fire safety standards.
- Experience inspecting fire doors, communal areas, and internal compartments within occupied residential buildings.
- Background in building surveying, construction, maintenance, or compliance-related roles.
- Familiarity with working in tenant-occupied properties and understanding of social housing challenges.
- Experience working to KPIs, targets, or programme deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Evidence of producing accurate, audit-ready documentation and reports.
- Comfortable working independently across multiple sites while maintaining high professional standards.
