Youth Support Worker

Veritas Education are currently recruiting for Youth Support Workers (YSW) in Leeds to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) in a specialist school. You will be joining a team of experienced SEN teachers and Behaviour Support Workers.

As a Youth Support Worker your role will mainly be supporting primary and secondary age students experiencing social, emotional, and mental health needs, whilst managing their behaviour too. You will be based in a provision that supports students with SEN, SEMH and challenging behaviours.

You will be using your own skills and knowledge to help build relationships with students and learners, deal with challenging and at-risk behaviour, and to help support them with their needs to the best of your ability.

Key Skills:

Great Inter-Personal skills
Engaging and enthusiastic
Able to build lasting and nurturing relationships with learners and young adults
Good knowledge of safeguardingRequirements:

Prior experience supporting children with SEN and SEMH
Be confident with behaviour de-escalation and behaviour management
Be Team Teach trained or be willing to attend the training course offered by Veritas
Candidates must hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS upon registration
