Job Description
Highly successful Biotech dedicated to discovering effective biological drugs is directing an effort towards development of biologics for oncology.  We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Research Associate to join our oncology group. This position is located in San Diego, CA.

We are seeking a highly motivated and hardworking Senior Research Associate to independently conduct all aspects of scientific studies using standard and advanced in vitro and in vivo techniques in the field of oncology drug development.


· A MS degree with 3+ years or a BS with 5+ years related experience in biology research

· Advanced knowledge in the field of oncology

· Hands on experience of standard mammalian cell culture, functional cell-based in vitro assays such as viability/proliferation. Expertise in co-culture or 3D cell culture is a plus.

· Extensive experience conducting in vivo mouse xenograft studies such as tumor cell implantations, dosing (IV/SQ), blood draw, tissue dissection.

· Knowledge and experience conducting a wide variety of basic to complex experiments such as ELISA, multi-color flow cytometry, Western blot and qPCR

· Experience with isolation of RNA and protein from cell lines and tissues

· Familiarity with microscopy

· Ability to independently design, analyze, and document experiments.

· Ability to independently execute and present data to scientific team.

· Excellent record keeping, attention to detail and communication skills.

· Thorough knowledge of MS Office products and FLOWJO.

· Ability to work effectively with others in a team laboratory and office environment.


· Independently conducts and troubleshoots experiments according to established study protocols.

· Reads scientific literature for assay development and company's drug candidates.

· Organizes and maintains experimental records.

· Records experimental data in lab notebooks and reports findings to appropriate individuals.

· Prepares technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses.

· Independently analyzes data including statistics and interprets results.

· Presents data and findings in group meetings.

Using independent discretion on how to reach desired outcome, may perform one or more of the following:

· Conducts and designs in-vivo experiments and applies working knowledge of standard xenograft models of disease, develop new xenograft models as needed.

· Proactively helps to improve daily laboratory activities such as flow cytometry, ELISA, MSD, western blot, quantitative immunoassays, immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry, viability assay, qPCR, primary cell isolation, culture primary cells and other biologic laboratory techniques.

· Conducts and designs in vitro cell-based assays for cancer target identification and validation.

· Learns to lead scientific projects including planning, execution and adhering to timelines.

· Establishes functional cell-based assays as needed for new cancer targets.

· Responsibility for laboratory efficiency, compliance, and cleanliness.

· Reviews, comprehends, and complies with all SOP's and internal guidelines.

· May mentor or supervise other research and/or laboratory staff.
