About the Company
I'm working with a vibrant and fast-growing MGA that's part of a wider, long-standing insurance group. The business has seen significant growth year-on-year (20% and rising) and is building something genuinely exciting.
Their East Kent office is home to a close-knit and energetic commercial team. It's a culture where your ideas are heard, innovation is encouraged, and you'll be surrounded by people who are proud to be doing things differently in the market. Modern systems, bold branding, and a collaborative environment all make this a great place for an experienced underwriter looking for more ownership and progression.

The Role
This is a key hire within the commercial underwriting team where you be focused on new business and MTAs across Commercial Combined, Property, and Liability lines - with a separate team handling renewals.
This role suits someone who enjoys building and maintaining broker relationships, thrives in a fast-paced, growing environment, and wants to work somewhere their input will genuinely shape the team and offering.

Key Responsibilities
Underwrite new business and mid-term adjustments within your delegated authority
Work directly with brokers to develop and retain strong relationships
Support internal processes to ensure underwriting integrity and regulatory compliance
Liaise with insurers on referrals and complex risks
Contribute to ongoing development of systems and best practices
Mentor more junior colleagues and provide technical input where needed
What They're Looking For
5+ years' experience in commercial underwriting (especially Property, Liability, and Commercial Combined)
Strong relationship-building skills - personable, confident, and commercially aware
A positive, “can-do” attitude with a willingness to be hands-on
Experience using bespoke or in-house systems
Cert CII is a plus - but not essential; full study support is provided
Someone who's comfortable in a scaling business and eager to grow with it
The Process
Initial interview with senior leadership
Final stage with the CEO (competency and scenario-based, with potential technical element)
Interviews can be held over Teams
Ideally looking to have someone in place before the end of October
