JOB TYPE: Temporary

SALARY: £10.66/hour Enhancement for working night shift

Our client is seeking a temporary CCTV and Community Alarms Operator who can provide a professional and effective CCTV service working closely with Emergency Services and other outside agencies to reduce crime and the fear of crime. You will also be required to provide a professional and effective Community Alarm service, including the monitoring, installation and maintenance of associated equipment.

Duties include: -

·To effectively monitor CCTV and related processes in accordance with client and police requirements and associated legislation

·To monitor the Police/Shop Watch/ Council radios in order to gain intelligence concerning particular incidents.

·To liaise and assist the Police Central Control Centre at Netley and individual Police Officers as appropriate.

·To prepare images in accordance with the Code of Practice and Procedure Manual for use by the District Council or other authorised agencies, including requests under Subject Data Access procedures.

·To answer and provide an initial response to community alarm calls.

·To effectively carry out all administrative functions within the office, including accurately maintaining all records, equipment orders and instructions

·To undertake effective investigations, analysis, interpretation, reviews and liaison relating to all the centre operations.

·To carry out continuous and effective monitoring of any security, social, staff safety or radio communications systems ensuring full and effective responses achieved in accordance with agreed procedures and protocols.

·To initiate remedial action as defined by the written down operating procedures following system and equipment failures, where possible and practicable, to limit down time and loss of service.

·Ensure that dispersed alarm units are programmed, supplied, installed and monitored to the satisfaction of the customer and identify opportunities to promote the provision of all the office’s services.

·To visit prospective clients within their own homes and carry out programming, installation and demonstrations of alarm units to the satisfaction of the customer.

·To answer ‘out of hours’ council calls appropriately and professionally and as stated by the laid down procedures.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

Essential:

·An excellent level of both written and verbal English to enable both effective personal communication and incident report writing

·Well presented and professional appearance with a confident approach to enable effective customer or partner interaction

·Ability to use own initiative and solve problems with customers in line with procedures.

·Strong observational skills the ability to maintain concentration over a long period of time.

·The technical ability to learn how to operate a computer-controlled CCTV system and Community Alarm monitoring equipment

·The physical and manual dexterity to carry out community alarms installations

·Experience of Data Protection or working with confidential material

·Be SIA regulated in Public Space Surveillance and hold qualification to B-tec level within 6 months of employment. Training provided.

·The ability to work calmly and effectively when dealing with emergency situations, viewing particularly distressing images or dealing with vulnerable and distressed adults over the phone or in person.

·The ability to acquire a thorough working knowledge of police radio and voice procedure disciplines

·Ability to learn relevant acronyms or codes to enable effective radio communication

Desirable:

·Previous experience of working in a Control Room environment eg..CCTV, Police or security with customer service responsibilities.

·Experience of working a shift pattern that involves unsocial hours of work.

·Previous experience working in the community, dealing with vulnerable and distressed people

Hours of work

4 x 12 hour shifts every 8 days.

Generally 2 x Days / 2 x Nights

Days = 6am-6pm

Nights = 6pm-6am
