Vacancy Overview:

We are currently seeking nine Spare Engineers to join our Clients team based out of our Bristol and Bridgwater offices, with the potential to work from the Hinkley Point C (HPC) site when required. This is an exciting hybrid role that offers the possibility of combining work from home with in-office work.

As a Spare Engineer, you will work collaboratively with a team of engineers to deliver part of the Spares Engineering Work Scope. This scope includes developing spares strategies for all systems across HPC, managing obsolescence, standardising spares strategies, and ensuring strategic and non-strategic spare parts are selected, approved, and procured efficiently. You will also work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, with a focus on coordinating with other disciplines to deliver projects.

Nature and Scope:

The Spare Engineer will be a key member of the CommOps Supply Chain Team, which is part of the HPB CommOps Department Maintenance Programme. This programme manages the maintenance strategies for HPC, both now and in the future. CommOps oversees all commissioning and operational activities for HPC.

Principal Accountabilities:

The role of Spare Engineer will encompass some or all of the following responsibilities:

Produce technical reviews and recommend the procurement of spare parts for mechanical, electrical, and I&C equipment. Present these reviews to stakeholders for endorsement, ensuring alignment with commissioning and maintenance programme needs.
Manage equipment obsolescence during the project phase, developing initial engineering solutions and recommending component procurement.
Develop and deliver processes for conducting business during the project phase and in plant operation.
Oversee the procurement of strategic spares, producing technical reports and recommendations based on ODC guidance. Attend works such as FATs and RRMs to support the manufacturing process and ensure proper delivery and storage arrangements for strategic spares.
Manage the standardised spares list, ensuring timely delivery in line with commissioning and maintenance needs.
Maintain interfaces and build relationships (both technical and functional) with other HPC departments, EPR Family Stations, and EDF Energy's existing Nuclear Business.
Research operating experience from other industries applicable to the HPC project and promote its use and application.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

Please note that the following knowledge and experience may have been acquired in industries outside of the nuclear industry.

Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Process Engineering, or a related field.
At least one year of experience in a similar role.
Ability to travel occasionally to supplier and client facilities.
Driven and self-motivated, with the ability to take on responsibility in various areas.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Proficiency with Excel.
Ability to read technical drawings, reports, and information from various data sources.
Experience developing and following procedures.
Experience working in a project environment.
Experience dealing with a wide range of suppliers and customers, both UK-based and international.
Excellent report writing skills, specifically in technical business cases
