The Dispatcher performs specialized duties involving dispatching of NEMT and paratransit units operated by independent operators. The position requires the person to operate telephones and computer terminals daily. Phone work includes handling service requests, issuing ETA’s and providing accurate and timely transmittal of information and messages that frequently involve non-emergency transportation situations. Reporting directly to the Network Operations Manager, and located in the command and control center, his/her duties involve daily communication and interaction with NEMT vehicle operators and riding passengers in a 400 trip per day environment. He/she must also organize and conduct ride activities to ensure safe, cost-effective, on-time operating performance, and communicates service issues to the Supervisor as appropriate.
Monitors computerized dispatch system and telephones to meet provision of service for quality and performance.
Responsible for influencing positive vehicle operator morale and quality customer service.
Monitors vehicle operator trip performances using computer aided dispatch system to ensure 100% on time compliance with scheduled appointment times.
Assigns and reassigns trips to vehicle operators to maintain productive and on time service for both the vehicle operator and the riding customer.
Assigns back-up personnel and additional non-dedicated vehicle capacity upon demonstrated need.
Participates in analysis and review of operating performance.
Ensures daily closeout of all rides with proper status and coding for invoicing.
Provides services in accordance with company policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, directives and standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED
Prior 1-3 years experience dispatching in an NEMT or Paratransit environment in the Chicago and NW Indiana areas.
Posses a valid drives license in the states of Illinois or Indiana.
