Mechanical Estimator

Overview

A leading building services contractor is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to join their expanding pre‑construction team based in Havant. This role is ideal for someone with experience in mechanical building services estimating who wants to work within a supportive, well‑structured, and forward‑thinking environment. Opportunities are available from Junior through to Senior level, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed and accurate mechanical tenders, cost plans, and estimates for a range of commercial, industrial, and residential projects.

Interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents to produce competitive pricing.

Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and evaluate cost data.

Work closely with the pre‑construction, design, and project delivery teams to ensure estimates align with project requirements.

Attend site visits, tender meetings, and client briefings where required.

Assist in developing value engineering options and alternative solutions.

Contribute to bid submissions, tender presentations, and handover documentation.

Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry pricing, materials, and market trends.

Skills & Experience

Experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the building services or MEP sector.

Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and public health systems.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Confident using estimating software and Microsoft Office packages.

Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.

For senior roles: proven experience leading tenders, managing client relationships, and mentoring junior estimators.
