Materials Planner / Materials Analyst

Location: Nuneaton

Salary up to £35,000pa

Working Hours

Monday – Thursday: 7:00am – 3:30pm, Friday: 7:00am – 12:00pm

Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a proactive and detail-oriented Materials Planner / Materials Analyst to join a busy supply chain and operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of materials through accurate planning, forecasting, and stock management to support production and operational efficiency.

This role requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage material requirements to support production schedules and operational demand
  • Monitor and maintain optimal stock levels, ensuring materials are available while minimising excess inventory
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and resolve supply issues
  • Analyse data from ERP systems to support planning decisions and identify trends
  • Produce reports and provide insights using Excel (including pivot tables and data analysis)
  • Support forecasting and demand planning activities
  • Raise and manage purchase orders, tracking supply against demand
  • Identify and resolve supply chain discrepancies or shortages
  • Collaborate with production, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure smooth operations
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain function

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Experience in a materials planning, supply chain, or production planning role
  • Strong understanding of stock control and inventory management
  • Experience using ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including pivot tables and data analysis)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Desirable:

  • Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Knowledge of MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems
  • Experience with forecasting and demand planning tools
